Jersey Shore - Season 5 Episode 10 - "One Meatball Stands Alone" Review

I just finished watching this week’s Jersey Shore and have to say…what a corker! The fifth series as a whole hasn’t been one of the best and the cast have calmed their ways and this series has been labelled the “fun” series after previous seasons infamous bust ups.

This week’s episode was the culmination of the Snooki/Jionni/Mike triangle storyline which has plagued most of this season in which Mike is certain that he and Snooki hooked up before Italy and feels he HAS to tell Joinni the “truth”.

As the episode starts, Mike is telling Jionni what really happened but Jionni simply shrugs it off and thanks him for telling him. Later on, a food fight breaks out between the gang but Snooki and Mike take it that one step further, resulting in an argument but Snooki is still adamant that nothing happened…(Liar…)

Mike is personally one of my favourite characters in the show, In a strange way, I actually believe him and him and Snooki supposedly hooking up. If Snooki hadn’t been trying to keep Mike and Jionni apart this whole time, she wouldn’t have anything to worry about. Clearly she had something to hide.

After finding out this week that Snooki has confirmed her pregnancy. I am happy for her and Jionni but feel Snooki has not matured enough yet to cope with motherhood. If anything goes wrong between her and Jionni (Which it probably will…) then this is unfair on the baby. I cannot see Snooki “changing” her ways, simply because she is a mother now. Like what they…a leopard never changes its spots.

Also this week, the gang decide to go camping in the woods. Jwoow’s group and Mike both manage to put their tents up but it turns out that Sammi and Ronnie are the ones that struggle to put theirs up. This fit my views well, the smartest people, being Jwoow and Mike clearly now how to put up and tent and the dumbest people Sammi and Ronnie don’t.

During their camping stay, Deena feels down after her fellow meatball Snooki hasn't been by her side for a while because she has a boyfriend. I do personally feel for Deena at this point because it can be quite a shock to the system as her and Snooki have constantly been together for so long and for that to suddenly stop can be daunting. I guess now that Snooki's pregnant...Deena shoud continue to support Snooki in every way she can but she must accept that Snooki cannot be her drinking buddy any longer.

Meanwhile, on their lonesome Pauly and Vinny plan their biggest prank yet…literally turning the house inside out. This is probably my favourite part of the episode, seeing Pauly and Vinny work incredibly hard to pull of their prank is addictive viewing in itself. They finally manage to do it, even putting a paddling pool in the middle of the living room is the icing on the cake.

The final part of the episode sees the gang return to the house, Snooki being the first to walk in and witness the biggest prank ever! Then we have to wait until next week….DAMN!

Next week sees the end of the fifth season and possibly the final season as one of the biggest stars Snooki now has a bun in the oven. I’m curious to see how this season ends and hope there’s a few more surprises in store before the summer wraps up!

See you all next week!

The Jonathan Ross Show - 3rd March 2012

Guests are:
Rihanna
Lionel Richie
Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton

The show starts with Jonathan’s grand entrance. Jonathan begins with the usual jokes involving animals which are only mildly funny. He sits at his desk and begins to introduce each star that are sat in the green room. He introduces Rihanna who is wearing a cap, a white top and black skirt with the word “Boy” written all over her clothes, presuming this is a brand. He then introduces Lionel Richie, Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball.

The first guest Jonathan has on the couch is Rihanna. At the moment Rihanna, is one of the biggest stars in the world. Before her entrance there is a clip of Rihanna’s very successful song and video Only Girl (In The World). As she sits down, he decides to get comfortable with her calling her Riri. He then goes onto to talk about her awards, most specifically the Brits and Grammys where she has won 5 awards.
I found it especially funny that Rihanna has somewhat of an obsession with Adele and says that she basically wanted to go the Brit Awards to stalk Adele. Jonathan asks her if other female stars are seen as competition. Rihanna says that they are always seen as competition and that’s what women are generally like. She also speaks about doing 101 dates on tour which I did attend for the first London date. Jonathan asked if she was tired or had a breakdown during her stay in Ireland. She explained that that was only the beginning so how could she have been tired?

Jonathan asks her about how she deals with people calling her too sexual. She says she doesn’t really notice it until she reads about it. From past interviews, I have reason to believe Rihanna made a comment that she is not here to be role model to kids. She also talks about her trip on the tube to her first concert which I feel lucky to have attended myself.

1st Break

Show resumes with Rihanna talking about Barbados and how she says they have supported her career and that it is her home. She admits she is single at the moment. She makes the comment “Single like is overrated” and wants to share her life and experiences with someone. I think this is a fair comment but don’t think she should settle for he who must not be named. She also admits guys can be intimidated by her and asked if being famous is essential to date her and says that she don’t care if they’re famous. Jonathan makes a Joke that Rihanna could go for an older man, being Lionel Ritchie!

She speaks about her new sci-fi movie Battleship and how she wants to delve more into movies. I would love for her be versatile in her career and feel she can be just as successful in movies. There is a clip of the film. She says she wants to continue picking the right roles.
The final part of the interview sees Rihanna teaching Jonathan how to speak Bajan which is very funny.

2nd Break

Lionel Ritchie is the next to be interviewed. He jokes that he wants to be known as a sexpot after Rihanna was deemed one by Jonathan. Jonathan also says he looks great for his age. Lionel talks about being in showbiz for around 42-43 years. Lionel says that the songs have contributed to his longevity. He also talks about his family and being a grandfather to Nicole Richie’s children.

Lionel says he is addicted to the music industry and Jonathan jokes to say he was in the worst dressed in the business. Lionel is originally from Alabama and talks about segregation in his hometown.
His latest album is a duet album with all his past hits. The final part of the interview ends with Jonathan asking about a live tour and Lionel confirms it is coming soon. He then performs a new version of Easy.

3rd and Final Break

The final guests Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton who are starring in the musical Sweeney Todd.
Michael says that the show is full of blood and humour and that people haven’t recognised him during the show because she looks very different. Imelda talks about warm ups before the show and keeping your voice is good nick and exercising.

Michael Ball then talks about whistling backstage and Jonathan begins to do it and Michael begins to get jokingly irritated by Jonathan’s whistling. Jonathan discusses briefly Imelda’s role on Harry Potter and how kids have taken a step back when they see her in public. I personally loved her in Harry Potter and think she really embraced her character.

The final part of the show ends with Rihanna performing her new single Talk That Talk live. During her performance, she goes up to Jonathan’s desk and sings the lyrics “Give it to me baby” sexually. Gotta love a bit of Rihanna being sexual.

My Fan Video Dedicated To Whitney Houston

For my dedication to Whitney, I decided to create my very own fan video to one of my favourite songs of hers which is "Call You Tonight" from her "I Look To You" album.

This song touched by so much that I've listened to her hundreds of times of my iTunes. I eventually found a remix with the original singer Johnta Austin, A male R n B artist.

So I mixed and edited the video and created this. It took me around 5 hours to make it so I hope you all like it.

Whitney Houston's Life, Career and Death

I've been trying to figure out how can I begin this blog and what better way to start than reviewing the life, career and death of one of the world's most successful singers of all time Whitney Houston.

On the night of Saturday February 11th, I was sat at my friends house playing music and just casually playing board games. Little did I know what was about to come...my friend sent me a message and said "Have you heard about Whitney Houston?". Well my heart just suddenly jumped, was it serious? Was she pregnant? Or is she dead? I had so many questions in my head in the space of a minute until I looked on my usual entertainment website "Digital Spy" and saw blasted on the front page "Breaking News! Whitney Houston has died aged 48".

It took me a while to process it, I couldn't even speak. One of my favourite singers of all time is gone. So I quickly switched on the news to see what was happening. Everywhere it was..."Whitney Houston...Dead". I kept thinking...is this real? My eyes were glued to the television all night knowing that nothing else could be done and I might as well just go to bed. And so I did.

Whitney's life was by far a whirlwind, she grew up in New Jersey, sang in a gospel choir and was discovered at a young age. She became one of the most well known singers ever with hits such as I Wanna Dance With Somebody, I Have Nothing, One Moment In Time and who could forget I Will Always Love You, a song from the soundtrack of The Bodyguard. A movie in which she starred with Kevin Costner.

I was born in 1989, so I was born in the midst of her success, the height of her career and I feel so blessed to think I was created at the time my parents listened to her music. The earliest memory I have of Whitney would have to be for the iconic video that was I Will Always Love You. Who could forget that voice or even the movement of her mouth, simply breathtaking. The video gave me goosebumps at such a young age. I kept thinking, who is this woman?

It wasn't until the song "It's Not Right, But It's Ok", that I realised, wow, now I know she is a superstar and even down with the teens! This song was one that my age would look up, a voice that was angelic and a song that made pop music cool!

I was never really a "deep" fan until she was making her comeback album "I Look To You". I kept thinking, I really want to hear her new music. Then when she was in the process of making that album. In the meantime, I purchased her Ultimate Collection album which has been overplayed on my iTunes may I add!

I kept looking at her past youtube videos and thinking, wow this girl can sing!

It was then time for the release of her I Look To You album, I went out and purchased it after the first few weeks of release and I have to say, it really is such a fantastic album. By this time, there had been a lot of criticism that her voice had gone and she can't sing anymore. Judging by her album, she could definitely still sing, whether that was enhanced was beyond me but I could tell she still had something in her.

Well all knew that Whitney had a drug addiction problem which stemmed from her marriage to singer Bobby Brown whom she had a turbulent relationship with. There were accusations that he hit her and that he abused her. Whitney herself admitted to Oprah that the only thing she did at home was listen to gospel music and take drugs.

Its no doubt that her voice may have been damaged by drugs but that didn't stop Whitney from making her comeback and making sure her fans have some new music from her and get to see her on tour for her "Nothing But Love World Tour" which was dedicated to her international fans in Europe and Australia.

Her tour was ultimately a financial success but was a critical failure. Deeming Whitney's voice as damaged and will be very difficult to claim her title back as the best singer in the world. Seeing youtube videos of her on tour were very uncomfortable to watch, knowing the voice she had and comparing it to this one was devastating as a fan. You only wish her the best and hope she can someone gain her vocals back.

So the last couple of years for Whitney were fairly quiet, making on and off appearences at parties and events but it wasn't until her final event for Clive Davis that nobody knew would be her last. She performed a "Jesus Loves Me" (very ironic) with singer Kelly Price. This would be her last performance and she was then escorted back to her hotel room and passed away there.

I didn't know this until recently that while Whitney's body was in her hotel room. The pre-grammys party hosted by her friend Clive Davis was still happening just 4 flights down. All the guests had a sobre evening, knowing that Whitney had died but I'm not too sure if everyone knew where her body lay. But it wasn't until the guests were leaving the party when they realised that her body was leaving the same time as them in the coroner van. Very morbid. I'm not sure why Clive Davis decided to go ahead with the party knowing the full details of her death and where her body was.

Her death is still so shocking to me and only wish I could of lived throughout her whole career so I would have seen it from beginning to end.

The only way I had of saying goodbye was by watching her funeral on television. I watched it from when her casket came in the church and when she left during the song "I Will Always Love You". Watching all the speeches and performances really were unbelievable. Highlights for me were Kevin Costners emotional speech and R Kelly singing "I Look To You" which brought me to tears.

I'm just so grateful to have been around when Whitney was and being able to witness how iconic and legendary her performances were. So Thank You.

R.I.P Whitney Houston
